New Worlds New Photos
Having fun making new glass worlds and finding some interesting images. Since it takes a good amount of time to do the kiln work, I hadn’t had much of a chance to do this lately. Feels good to be back in the studio.
Too Much Fun…..
Making the fabric with Spoonflower’s program made me think about creating mirror images that could be printed on other materials, i.e. standard photos, metal prints. There is a great tutorial on making them in Photoshop, so I got to work. Finally got to bed about 1:30 am….. (which was a bit of an issue because our Great Dane/White Shepherd mix had decided he was sleeping in my spot). My husband questioned whether or not these new images were true to my claim that all of the designs I show are “in the glass”. Well, the only manipulation I do is to multiply the photographic image, so I’m thinking it’s not much of a stretch. And what I am seeing seems worth the work! Enjoy!
First try….
I couldn’t wait to make something with a piece of the new fabric made from my photos, so this morning I got out a needle and thread and got to work. Now, many of the women in my family (including my mother who still does some sewing and even made my wedding dress as well as a few others) are or were great in the sewing arts…not me. That gene totally skipped me. So putting something together with fabric and thread is a bit of a challenge, and, since I don’t sew, I don’t have a sewing machine. Slippery fabric and hand stitching….but I did it! Add to that the fact that I start ed about 6:30 this morning and you can understand why I don’t want anyone to look too closely at this first bracelet. But, it shows just how excited I am by this new material! Here are some pictures. Remember, 6:30 AM, needle and thread, slippery fabric, non-sewer who is very excited to see the finished product.
