Sewing?!?

As I said before, I don’t sew. Ask me to cut out and put some glass pieces together, no problem. Ask me to cut fabric and sew it together, big problem. Oh, I can do the occasional hem, repair a split seam and the like, but actually making something gets me crazy.  showing off this fabric I have been designing leads to the obvious question “so what are you going to do with it?”.  Luckily, my Mother still enjoys seeing and is game for a new project while waiting out winter. So we got together and I cut and pinned, she sewed and we made some scarves.  I have been wearing them and getting good response. Today I decided to try my hand at sewing one myself – maybe after all these years things have changed. Nope. Well, I did set myself up for a challenge by using knit fabric, nothing like adding an extra layer of difficulty. A nice infinity scarf is now around my neck, but I don’t want anyone to look too closely. I have a lot of respect for those who sew with knits, and even more for my Mom who made me a bathing suit years ago. I will be going back to my other idea of making bags and clutch purses out of woven fabrics. Maybe with practice on some easier things I will improve. Or, I will find people who do sew…..
