So, it’s been a while

Yes, I am still around.  The last few weeks/months have been a bit crazy, and not so much fun, and it’s been hard to sit down and write.  Things are starting to come around, so here I go again.

First, the photos are getting some great response – yay!  Any of you out there who have tried something new know how it is to wait and see what people think.  Now, I have been doing this for a couple of years, and there have been lots of great comments and purchases, but I still keep thinking it is just a fluke.  I think I have to get over that.  A few weeks ago I decided to see if I could get into our closest big art fair, Artstreet, in Green Bay.  The organizers did have some cancellations, so two weeks before I was told I was in.  Quick jump into art fair preparations (I haven’t done a large outdoor art fair for years!).  And, this was knowing that I had a gallery show coming up in September, what was I thinking?!  Anyway, I’m glad I did it.  Great response to the work and even an Award of Excellence! 

This week I delivered work to the Meadows Art Gallery in Sister Bay, WI, for the show there with Pam Clausen.  Between the two of us we have about 80 pieces in the show.  Pam is a very classic oil painter who does amazing work, so I am very pleased to be in a show with her.  Our work is about as different as you can get, so it will be interesting to see how it all works together.  Will post some pictures tomorrow.  This gallery is in a very interesting setting, the hallways of the apartments in a retirement village.  The organizers, in particular Tom Seagard, have transformed the formerly somewhat institutional looking space into a gallery where any artist would be happy to hang or show their work.  And it is a win-win situation.  The residents get new views every month, the shows bring in visitors and the artists have a great venue that is receiving lots of attention.  This needs to be looked into at more similar locations. 

One more event that is coming up is the second Tour D’Art with Tom Krueger.  Tom and I have been doing the local Art Studio Tour together for a few years, and this year are doing our own since the Tour is not happening.  So, October 3 and 4 Tom is moving into the greenhouse and I am opening my studio for the public to visit.  Time is 10 am – 5 pm both days.  I will be adding the address and some directions soon.  Just need to get the Meadows show underway.
