Photo(s) of the Week, May 21
Just made some new glass pieces and of the three I really like two of them. The third, well, sometimes the colors just don’t work well together. I keep hoping to make some glass that I just want to sell, but then I do some exploring and find all kinds of things going on. I’m really happy with these, so I am posting more than just one image. Don’t worry there are plenty for future posts!
First, the two 8 inch glass discs
I was trying to create some lighter pieces to compliment my mostly darker ones, and succeeded. As the next few macro photos show, there are at least a few really interesting brighter and lighter images to be found.
My favorite of the day (and I took about 35 photos).
This one seems very simple, but strong
I am really excited about these and can hardly wait to see them in print. My favorite way of printing is on metal, so I won’t get instant gratification, but I do have some metallic paper on hand, and that gives a pretty good feel for how they will look. One thing I am also excited about is that these are all very large images to start with, so they could be printed on a very large scale.
Bonus Photo of the Week
Sometimes I just have to share! This week I am working on multiple images from just one of my glass disks with an idea to change my Greco Gallery “An Artist Boutique” wall in the near future. The idea is to highlight one piece of glass and all of the photos that I find in it. Sound good? So, in working on the images, I have found a few that I am really excited about. Here are a couple. If you would like to give input, please do.
How about Photo of the Week?
Ok, so my last post was titled “New Photo of the Day” and I thought that maybe I would try to post a photo a day. I should have known better. While I probably have enough photos to do a daily post, that just isn’t going to happen. So instead I’m going to try a “Photo of the Week”. Now that sounds like something I should be able to handle. Maybe even once in a while I’ll do a couple of new photos if I have a really good week of picture-taking.
I’m still playing with the extension tubes and today took a few shots of an older piece of glass using just the 36mm extension. It still allows me to get closer than I had before, and seems to get great detail. These were taken with a Nikon D3200, with a Tamron 60mm F/2 Macro 1:1 plus the 36mm extension tube.
I am still amazed at the textures and details that the camera brings out. So much beauty that has been hidden!
